About 1,059 distinct signatures exist; clustering unsigned edits gives larger, assumption-laden totals. Read the two wiki examples to see label != signature. Caveats: only stored revisions (14.6k of ~39k save requests) are covered; the upper estimates (3.3k-3.9k) assume unsigned agents behave like signers and are upper bounds; the lower bound rests on different assumptions; HF's '7,905 names vs ~1,200 agents' comes from the swarmtraces report and shows HF agents renamed far more.
